Why don't my bf's dried shrooms look the same as the ones I have bought in the past is there something wrong with them??? should I be worried??? Thanks KW

Wet shrooms are 90% water, thats why they shrivel up and shit when you dry them out. Hope that helps.

They are drying and they don't look the same purpleish/blue that I have bought I'm concered haaaaaa KW

thats fine. the blueing is oxidation and happens when you handle your shrooms ruff.

seriously though, the shrooms are fine, if you're still in doubt you could always do a taste-test.

hehe yea i do taste tests :smile: :smile: i usually use about 3-4 grams dry for the taste test..or 40 grams wet :smile: makes the taste more real :smile:

arent there asthetic differences between drying methods? Like using the air and damprid will produce a different look then using a dehydrator?

nope, I've used about every method imaginable, with the exception of sun drying the shrooms all look about the same, they tend to blue a little more

it's possible that the shrooms you've bought before were picked in a pasture and dried, they look a bit different than cultivated mushrooms

the more oxygen avaiable the more liekly you'll get oxidized actives (bad but not terrible in small ammounts).
drying while in light at least in sunlight that is has been shown to oxidize MUCH MORE actives than in the dark. i saw a pick dried shrooms with little or no blueing from dryign in the dark, and the ones dried in the sun were completely blue, looks cool but that probably lost a lot of potency.
food dehydrators on 90-120 degrees will leave ure shrooms cracker dry with no problems, the only blueing you should end up with as a result of that would be from rough handling.
damprid is meant to be used after drying with a fan or to remove moisture from torage containers once u achieve the proverbial "cracker dry" state. using damprid without fanning them firs till probably lead to rotting.
the might be different looking because of strain(unlikely) species(unlikely), growing method(likely), growth parameters(likely), and drying method (medium possibility).

well, I am embarrassed to say that before I knew any better I was putting my shrooms in a food dehydrator without temp. control. So essentially I was cooking the crap out of the shrooms and they were a pale whitish color and weak at best. As soon as I got my shit together and started drying with just moving room temperature air and a desiccant chamber... voila! frighteningly potent blue mushrooms.

bruising is bad though(except that it looks cool)... i'm guessing u just mean that there was so much there that bluing didn't matter and was an indicator of how much was available but bruising will reduce the potency a tiny ammount, but idk....

drying in them in your dehydrator will not effect the potency even at the highest temp. Agar had a post on this not to long ago.
