Over Dried Shroom?

Hey whats up. First time post, been lurkin for a while. Quick question. I grew a smallsih Cubie with PF Tek, about 3.5 grams wet. Dried it in my refrig on a wire basket over a tupperware container of Damp-Rid (Calcium Chloride) (the only dessicant i could find at my local Hardware store), in a bag (not airtight, but pretty close) the shroom dried alright... it got really tiny; like less than a tenth of a gram. The stem is like whisker thin. My question is... did i do something wrong? did this shroom actually rot b4 drying.. or was it just a really wet shroom that dried tiny? I can post a pic if necessary.. That;s what happens when you dry shrooms... They get small and wrinkly. That's why you need to eat about 10 times more wet amount than dry.

You only got one mushroom out of a cake?

if it is dry then its dry. if that is how the shroom dried up then theres nothing you can do about it. i have never heard of drying them in the fridge, maybe thats why?

if one drinks too much from a bottle marked pioson, it is most certain to dissaprove one sooner or later.

Yeah i understand that shrooms dry.. but this is kinda ridiculous. 3.5 wet dried to >.1 gram? thats like 35:1 ratio.. and that seems really ridiculous when everyone says its about a 10:1 ratio. I dried it in the refrig inside a bag like it says to do in the PF Tek. Could it be that i'm using the wrong dessicant?

Sounds just about right, considering shrooms are approximately 90% water.

You can't "over-dry" your shrooms.  The proteins and other organic components of the shroom don't evaporate and float away.  Some shrooms (particularly thin ones) shrivel up to next to nothing, just live with it :tongue:
