Case in point: You interpret "Peace Out, or not" to mean I'm "pissed off," and that, because you're not taking my advice. Wrong interpretation...twice. (1) I'm not "pissed off" nor do I have any emotional investment in this communication. (2) It doesn't make any difference to me whether you see this guy or never see him again. You are very permissive about violence is what I was intending, because I don't care how long I was 'friends' with a guy if he acted in the way your 'friend' did with you. I would write him off on the spot. But that's just me. Life is short, I have higher places in dwell in and I avoid those who would drag me into 'animal-instinct land.'

Well, i have decided that you guys are right, and its about time to end this frienship. Its a fucking shame. I didn't think it would come to this. We always used to talk about the future, moving in, and going into buisness together.
He has been calling my phone leaving messages everyday. First they were apologetic. Somehow they turned angry, and hostile. Now he is threatening me with violence because i won't talk to him.
WTF? i never thought my friend would act this way. I don't know what his fucking problem is.

Maybe you should talk to him and ASK him? Whatever you choose to do with this relationship you can't write it off and just ignore him. Talk to him and just tell him you need to cool off from him for a while. Thats an understandable action to choose after what happened. See where it goes from there. If you choose to cut it off so be it but rash decisions are what got you two here.


He doesn't sound like the greatest friend in the world but you can't put this whole situation on him. You did sucker punch him it sounds like among other bad choices you made. I would distance myself from him from what you've said, though. ALso, in the future I would avoid getting shit-canned with violent bastards.

i had the same sort of thing happen with a good friend (not eye-gouging, but stupid meaningless agression), who fell back into abusing cocaine...

i ended up talking to him a week or so later, and listened and mostly accepted his apologies. however, our friendship had obviously changed (and had been changing up to that point), and eventually fell apart. also, i moved, which helped facilitate that change...

I dunno man. I know alcohol makes some people do stupid shit, but honestly, his actions were pretty psychotic. I guess you can hang around him and such, but defenitely not with alcohol involved, and I wouldn't put too too much value on your friendship.

Eye gouging? That's some serious shit.

eh, i just called him. I have been meaning to talk to him since this happened.
He apologized, i forgave him, and told him that i wasn't going to dump him as a friend, but that i was going to put everything on hold, and that i would never be around him when he was drinking again.

I want to help him work through his shit, and be there for him as a friend, as he was there for me in the past.
However i don't know if our friendship will survive this, or fade out.

I don't understand how so many people act so fucking stupid when they're drunk. When I'm drinking with my friends, we're doing so to hang out and have a good time. Why do so many people get violent and do stupid immature shit like drink and drive/start fights. No matter how drunk we get, we still can make a smart enough decisions not to do that type of shit.

On a different note..
It's easy for us to sit here on our computers a thousand miles away and give you "sound" advice. However, none of us were in your situation, nor do we know the guy. It's pretty noble of you, I suppose, to forgive this guy after he did something like that. In any case, whatever you decide.. Good luck.

Whenever my friend comes over we fight without punching in the face, he always pulls my hair or pushes my eyes in or threatens to break my neck / sufficate me... the only thing that i can stop him is by pushing my elbow on the back of his neck... anyone recommend any better moves?
