 Keeping shrooms fresh

How long can i keep shrooms fresh after harvest? I just picked them today (monday) and plan on eating them some time between thursday and sunday. Can i just keep them cold in a cooler or something or will i be forced to dry them out?

Do i absolutely have to dry them out? Because i am home from school for christmas so it might be kind of a waste and a little strange if i come home w/ a bag of dessicant. We have ice melter "balls" for slippery walk ways in the house though.. could i use that as a dessicant?

yeah.. i guess i could sneak it in pretty easily, but then i feel like its a waste to just throw out all the dessicant i don't use.. by the way.. how much does it cost and how big are the bags.. maybe i'm just outta line here.

Check the bag of ice melting balls. See if it is calcium chloride. If it is that is what I use as dessicant.

i don't really know too much about shroom preservage but i did buy some lunchmeat today and the expiration date says next mon so .. i am assuming if you refrigerate them they shold be good till next monday. if not then consult your local grocer.

I'm backing anno and roadkill, we do you see the need to screw with people that are looking for help. You made a rude remark in regard to a question I asked in one of my posts, then the other day you tried to tell some poor kid that was no such thing as worrying about contamination but that if he did come across some ill looking colors in his jars that he got lucky with some really good mycelium and he should clone it on some agar and now more smart ass remarks. Grow up
In regard to the original question if you don't want to spend the money on damp rid or something like that just throw them bad boys in front of fan for a while.

do not keep fresh shrooms, i brought a bag of freshly picked ones to school, smelled my locker up and there was liquid in the back, heh, im never doing that again. those things felt like shit, fuckin nasty shit. anyway, use a fan, take a container, put em in there, put the fan over it, i use my old fish bowl, put a paper towel in there, and the shrooms on it, and put the fan over it. dries em in 24 hours, or less, i dont really pay attention. dont ever use fuckin heat to dry em, that will fuck em up.
