organic food for shrooms: fresh or dried???

if i was going to put grass or hay in my spawn substrate, is it better to be fresh or dried out?

If its green, thats to fresh. The best is already baled straw(wheat). Mushrooms are decomposers, so something being fresher will not work nearly as much as something dried out, and old. If your using wheat straw, get it when its dry and yellow, then pasturize and have fun.:)bluhoney
