Just got a brand new Apple iBook G4!!
    #4956440 - 11/19/05 03:44 PM (18 years, 4 months ago)

I finally replaced my 2001 toshiba! I just brought this little baby home! Still getting used to the system after a lifetime of using Windows, but so far I like it! Very user friendly.

This is some serious, state-of-the-art consumer electronics!

Anyone have the same comp? It feels so good to catch up after four years of outdated technology. I mean, my toshiba served me well, but it was time to move on

"Built-in Wireless
Built into every configuration of the iBook G4 family: AirPort Extreme wireless technology based on the 802.11g standard, plus Bluetooth 2.0+EDR for wireless connections to PDAs, cell phones and other peripherals. You also get an Ethernet port and 56K modem for wired networking.

Do More with iLife ?05
The iBook G4 comes bundled with Apple?s award-winning iLife ?05 suite, featuring the latest versions of iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie HD, iDVD and GarageBand. Create custom mix CDs, design a coffee-table book, make a home movie, or compose your own songs. iLife ?05 does all that and more.

Helps Protect Your Data
In the event of a drop, your iBook?s Sudden Motion Sensor (SMS) instantly parks the hard drive heads so they won?t scratch the disks on impact, reducing the risk of damage. When the module senses your iBook is level, it unlocks the hard drive heads automatically.

Lasts Up to 6 Hours
Thanks to your iBook?s built-in energy-saving features, you?ll get up to 6 hours of battery life ? perfect for long nights at the library or plane trips home.

Video Performance
An ATI Mobility Radeon 9550 graphics processor with 32MB of fast video memory powers the iBook's brilliant display.

Fast, Light and Full-Featured
The iBook G4 offers everything you need to enjoy the digital life to go ? in an incredibly affordable package that weighs as little as 4.9 pounds.

Durable Space-Age Construction
Stylish and surprisingly rugged, your iBook is built with ultratough polycarbonate plastic ? the same material used in bulletproof glass ? with an internal magnesium frame for added strength. And there are no doors or protruding elements that can accidentally break off or snag on clothing.

Ready to Scroll
Every iBook features a trackpad with customizable scrolling capability. Just drag two fingers over the trackpad to scroll vertically or horizontally, or pan around any active window."

I'm on a 12" G4 Powerbook right now.

The feel of the system is so different! Just the way the mouse moves and the auto-formating... even the pressure needed to press a key down. I feel so clumsy with it right now. lol!

I just gotta get used to the change. I did have my last laptop for like 3 years, so I was very familiar with it's personality ( or computerality :smirk:).

Hey Robot? When you put a cd into the slot, does it sound like the comp is EATING it? lol! The first time I put a cd in I was like "NO!!! My cd!!" lol! But it works fine. Is this normal?
