Can you recommend a Linux distro for my iBook G4?
    #13710694 -

I need to get rid of this OS X nonsense.

What's a linux distro that is light and runs smoothly on the iBook G4?

(btw, I've already checked out http://penguinppc.org/about/distributions.php I'm just having a hard time deciding which to try...)

PPC linux is in a sad state nowadays since Apple dropped PPC support..

a buddy of mine works at an art college and he has a lot of G5 PowerMacs laying around.

the ONLY distro that really seems to still be actively maintained (and not horrible) is Debian.

Ubuntu dropped support for PPC a few years ago.

and Puppy has never run on PPC.

the only other distro that really seems to be actively maintained is YellowDog which is kinda like Fedora except that it is bloody awful.

OP, personally, i would like to try out the latest AmigaOS. i cant imagine using it on a machine i expect to do anything on but id just like to see what they are doing after all this time.

i just dont have a PPC machine anymore to try it.
