BRF vs. RYE

Hey folks , what's up ?

I'm getting ready to do 2 cases of 1/2 pint jars to test my new batch of LC's . I have some Rye berries so I thought I's do a case of each . I've read a bit on using Rye instead of BRF and got varying suggestions in the threads I read . Some said use the same amount of Rye as BRF , some said use more . What do YOU guys say,lol.

I have 8 new quarts of LC to test , so I was going to do 3 jars of each . Thought I'd do 2 of rye and 1 BRF on some and vicsa versa of the others and compare the colonization times.

Should I use the same ratio for cakes and just sub ground rye for some or do I increase the amount of rye ?

hi..sisi

You would use the same amount of Rye flour as you would Brown Rice flour.

and use the Maximum fruiting forumula.

Maximum fruiting formula:
1/4 cup of brown rice powder
1/2 cup of vermiculite
60 cc's water

x4 will make 5 half pint jars.

Went down to my Aunt and Uncles house today...
they were getting rid of canning jars.
:smirk:

Major score!~
Some are collectable!~
Blue glass...and some odd shape ones.
and some half Quart size that I have never seen before, look like a Quart jar cut in half.
and some really weird tall jelly jars that aren't sold anymore, they look like tall half pints on steriods, really tall and skinny.

Plus a shit load of Pint and Quart size jars.
