First Flush Harvested(update w/pic) * 1

Well guys I am little bit upset with my first flush from my two "early bird" cakes. I thought I was going to get a lot more than I did. I ended up get about 35 wet grams off of the 2 cakes. I was hoping for at least 70 or 100. Was it wrong of me to expect that much?

The cakes were standard BRF knocked up with brazilian spores. I dunk and rolled the cakes and put them in my terrarium. I fanned every 2 hours with the exception of friday because I had to go out of town. Did I do something wrong or is this the typical amount to get.

Most of the shrooms were pretty small. A few had broken a veil so I know that they were ready. But the biggest one was about 3" long.

I was also wondering if maybe that would be enough for my girlfriend and I to get a decent trip off of. At least something to notice other than a mild stoning effect. I was really excited and hoping to trip off of this harvest but I don't want to trip w/o my girl.

Any advice? Should I wait until I get more? My 3 of my other cakes are pinning. I still don't see any pins on my casing but the myc is popping up really even.

One more Question. I read that cranberry juice will increase the potency? Can I chop up what I have and mix w/cranberry juice to give us a good trip? Just a thought.

You could trip off 3.5 grams, which will probably be your dry weight, but the effects will likely be mild between two people. You're already starting with some shrooms that rank lowest on potency and ingesting a relatively small dose to boot. You'll likely get some minor visuals and possibly get some giggles.

My opinion on the effects of these shrooms on you and your girlfriend are very subjective though. I would personally wait until you have more to play with. I don't have any advice on the cranberry juice. It sounds like an old wives tale, but I could be wrong.

The BRF could have been caca. Did you grind it yourself or buy it in flour form already? Fresh ground BRF is better than the pre-ground stuff. Also, did you have a hygrometer to measure humidity? It could have been low ambient humidity also. I'm just guessing.

i think what he meant was mushrooms that are grown off of cakes are inherently less potent.

Mushrooms grown on different substrates produce different results. While there is no list that I know of, substrates are typically tiered as such:

WBS/BRF= Tier 3
Rye/Straw= Tier 2
Horse Manure= Tier 1

Now this is certainly not set in stone, but there is a huge difference in potency from BRF or WBS fruited substrates to bulk cultivation using horse manure.

I don't want jack this guys thread, so I'll leave at that. If you want to debate the merits of potency, start a new thread.

From that statement, I thought you were talking about the strain itself.

I'm well aware of the differences in potency from different substrates. I love poo myself, but some people can't use other substrates for various reasons.

But no one really answered my question: Is this typical size for BRF. I really hope not. But if it is or it's not I am definitely switching to grains and poo as soon as I can.

My RH in the FC was at least 95 all the time. Don't know if it was higher because my hygrometer only reads to 95. But there was condensation on the sides. So I know the RH was good.

I also think that the BRF was freshly ground. I went to a healthfood store and looked at what they had. They had prepackaged shit and shit in ziplock bags. I asked the difference and the clerk said that they grind the stuff in the bags there. So that is what I got.

I really don't know of anything else that could of gone wrong. Oh well I guess this is just more proof that I need to move to poo.

Hopefully I will win that first prize in the scavenger hunt.

No, that's not typical for ANY substrate that is worth a damn. This is why I was telling you what may have gone wrong.

I would highly recommend switching anyway! Use your BRF cakes to spawn to poo, so you don't need a PC. Unless you have one already.

I hope that the potency isn't as bad as the size. I can't wait to try em out. My other cakes are pinning so I should have enough in another week.

But I am definitely switching to poo as soon as I can. I think I might order some soon. I might wait to see if I win the scavenger hunt first though. But I would like it soon. Anyways we'll see.

Yeah next time I think I am going to wait for a couple of caps to fully flatten out. I want some prints anyways. I let the nonpatient part of me get the best of me. We'll see how the rest turn out. Plus I still have a few flushes off of those 2 cakes.

it looks like you have quite a few aborts there. Im pretty sure they are more potent than regular shrooms in weight. so 35 grams with all those aborts might give you a bit stronger trip.

I think that one big problem was that I didn't wait long enough to harvest. I should of waited until I tomarrow night to pick em. Next I am going to wait until I see some of the caps flattening out.

Other than that there is nothing that I could of done wrong. I've done everything exactly text book.

There is some really good news. I fanned my casing an hour ago and there are pins. HURRAY!!! Now this is what I've been waiting for.

I just ordered 5 lbs of prepasturized poo from tennstud. I hope it comes quick. So that way I can get some good shroomies.
