Fast Growing!!!
    #490380 - 12/13/01 11:04 PM (15 years, 3 months ago)

Hey all...

Six days ago I innoculated my substrates...I'm working with 3 different types as a beginner...The BRF/Verm jars are growing, but slowly...about 10% colonized...my BRF /Verm/Bird Seed and Flax jars are growing fairly well, about 20% colonized, But my Brown Rice/Verm jars are going nuts...probably close to 35% colonized...My question deals with the fastest jars:

at this rate (35% in 6 days)...How long do you think it will be before I can birth them???

Just for the record...I'm using 3 different strains...T.C. and Pes Hawiian are growing equally as fast (T.C. might be a fraction more agrressive) and my B+ are the slowest, they just putt along...Just thought I'd offer that up...

Yeah...using whole grain brown rice/ verm in my fastest growing jars...w.g. brown rice/ bird seed/verm and BRF in the others...then I did a few jars of BRF and Verm...They're growing the slowest, but they're also more compact than the whole grain jars...

Any guesses as to how long I have until birthing???

i used whole grain brown rice / verm as well with pretty good results. only thing i was worried about was it seemed the mycelium had a hard time colonizing some of the large grains that were against the side of the jar, but after i birthed everything turned out ok. cakes looked a little funny i think (it was my first time so i dun really know what they should have looked like) mainly the outer surface was all rhizomorphic growth, lots of pockets and mainly just not a solid white cake like the picture i'd seen.. then again, like i said it worked!

I swear by DARK RYE flour. It`s the fastest cakes I`ve ever seen. I`ve had 100% colonization and birthed cakes or cased in 10 days....no exaggeration. I`ll never go back to Brown rice flour. Whole grains are good too though

If someone knows the difference between rye flour and DARK rye flour please post. I have never used either but would be interested to know the "real" difference between them.

Peace.

Did some comparison between those two flour's.

Basically, DARK rye flour has on average 2-3 times the nutrional content of LIGHT rye flour. Just in case your curious. I will try and compare it to brown rice flour if anyones interested, if not i'll start a new thread and post reults there.

Peace.

Generally ive found birdseed (millet) to colonise at around the same speed as brf while rye is slower/ manure slower still - however ive also found brown rice to give the smallest yields and the least potent cubies - go with birdseed, rye or manure for potency

seems like you are doing cakes, but anyway...

dude gets fully colonized quarts of Birdseed in about 5-6 days, with one shaking at about day 3. This is with honeywater solution and surprisingly multispore takes only one day longer. B+ @86 F

I'm all about the honey water thing...I innoculated (6) 1/2 pint jars on Saturday and I'm ready to birth 4 of them...I've let them sit a few days even though they looked ready on Monday, simply because I didn't believe it was possible...I innoculated 2 jars with the mycelium grown from 1 cc of spore solution and had almost fully colonized jars in about 48 hours...I hope this doesn't sound like a load of crap, cus it really is the truth...I thought it was mold or something, but it's the real McCoy!!!
