WHOA. now thats a list! Well for P. cubensis AFOAF would use Brown Rice Flour. It's consistant and is the top choice of cultivators worldwide:) It can be found at http://www.mycosupply.com/substrates/index.html As for the P. azurescens well....let me say that AFOAF wouldn't even bother nor use flour for cultivating azures. If you're never grown cubes before, wait awhile to grow azures. Azures are more difficult to grow than cubes.....Azures can't be grown indoors (expect by one mad scientist I know) and its not me:) Stick with cubes for awhile and see how you like it. Lana

Thanks, I have cultivated P. cubensis before, but the police stole them before they fruited =( What would u suggest using for azurescens then? Agar? How do you fruit? I plan to try agar cultivation of azurescens first, then maybe innoculate substrate when I have lots to play wiv :) Many thanks, iudexk

$89.10 ??? Holy Moly! If you mind me asking, where are you from:) If you like, PM and if you still need some maybe we can work something out:) Azures usually grow in outside beds. Instead of BRF, hardwood chips are used. Agar is used in the colonization period (a azure print colonizes the agar, the agar is cut and then colonized the woodchips or grain. The grain may be used as a spawn master etc ...:) Lana

http://209.164.74.217/azurdata.htm Even the pros have a lot of trouble taming azures.. I really think if you're after potency you should just work on your cubie techniques for now, and then after you've mastered that maybe move on to the somewhat harder species.. I mean, you wouldn't try to jump to the top of a ladder instead of climbing it would you? (you may, in some really weird case, be able to do this, but you're most likely gonna fall on your ass. lol) It'd be a lot of wasted effort if you tried to start off with azurescens, because from what I hear they really don't like attempts at being cultivated, whereas species like cubensis are a lot more forgiving. =) -Mark

Stay away from Soya flour for any species. Too much protien/nitrogen. Causes small, stunted growth, if any growth occurs at all. You want approx. a 7 gm carbohydrate to 1 gm protien ratio in your substrate. Corn flour is high in dextrose and usually results in an increase in potency.
