Indoor Salvia lighting?

Well, I have to bring my salvia plants in for the winter so the frost doesn't get them. They seem to be doing ok sitting near a window sill. The only problem is that there growth rate slowed drastically since summer. Is their any other lighting I can provide to boost the growth rate? Thanks in advance! :stoned:

I dont know much about salvia but id say a 1000 watt metal halide would speed up the growth rate a fair bit. If you cant get your hands on the metal halide id say a fluorescent would be better than nothing.

1000 watt for 4 salvia's?! That seems like a bit of overkill, no? I have a 115 watt cfl grow box. I could put them in that if it isn't too much. I always heard salvia were pretty light sensitive. Anyone else care to comment?

Salvia doesn't like direct lighting anyways, so I would assume putting them under a 1000 watt light would NOT be helpful at all. Just use a small cfl bro.

My Salvias seem satisfied with few fluorescent tubes, they just suck fertilizer and water like craizy!

Sorry I meant to say 400 watt but judging by others comments thats probably too much for the salvia too.

By the way where did start from clones or seeds?

Clones. Salvia from seeds is VERY rare.

So I hear. Alot of people say, with cannabis at least that every generation of clones, there is a slight genetic mutation so it loses a little potency every generation. Would that be the case with salvia too?

Yeah, I've heard that. I'm not sure but I don't think that goes for salvia. Even in the wild they usually fall over and re-root.
