Salvia is a tough one to grow. Try dagga, heimia, san pedro or a number of others.

that's actually a really good idea because the humidity is higher in the bathroom.....especially if you're using floros to light your bathroom.

i second salvia. i find it very easy to grow, and if treated right can grow super fast. For some reason mine died outside, but inside under flouro's it flourished. go figure.

Does salvia grow well under HPS as well? I have a 250w which I am wanting to use for a 'legal ethno closet' but would the HPS be too much for salvia? I'm wanting to have cacti, HWBR, MG etc, as well, cause where I live the weather is too cold to grow that stuff very well outdoor.

You don't need an HPS for Salvia

I know I don't 'need' an HPS to grow salvia. What I'm saying is I have an HPS that I'm not using and I want to put it to use. I know that the cacti and HWBR etc. have liked it under the HPS so I want to know if salvia can handle it as well.

Yes you can use HPS for Salvia. However, the high concentration of red (this is what makes hps light look like gold) is not the best choice for Salvia. A regular fluorescent grow bulb will do a better job IME.

the light's too intense and will need to be filtered through a shading cloth or some other means if you insist on using the HPS, i'd just let the HPS sit in the closet until you get some plants that would really enjoy the lamp.
What we consider the best possible conditions (i.e. intense high output lights and doping with tons of fertilizer) isn't always the best possible conditions for plants, salvia does fine in slightly acic soil and in indirect sunlight with lots of humidity, I have a monster in my living room that isn't even close to direct light and is just fed by ambient lighting in the room it's enough to make it grow huge and produce leaves almost as big as my face.

Khat (Catha edulis) does well indoors, because it likes dry environments.
Psychotria viridis will do well indoors if you mist it with water or keep it under a humidity tent. It tolerates low light. Plus, it is an attractive plant --looks like a coffee plant.

My viridis does fine indoors and out. I never mist it or use any tent. The humidity was way too low for my salvia but the pv did fine. If you are in the dessert or something you might need to do that. Khat, from what i've heard, does well in dry or humid weather.
