Yeah I don't think that would work. Unless you mean by not giving it enough light or nutrients so it grows all thin and tiny. Don't see a whole lot of point in that one!

Oh and as for bonsai ethnos...I've seen bonsai weed plants that were pretty cool, and I bet it wouldn't be too hard to bonsai an acacia or a mimosa, theres bound to be bonsais of those around somewhere.

I had three really happy sweet acacia bonsais until just recently when my plant-sitter forgot to water them, and they died since I was gone for two weeks. These are a great indoor bonsai to try, but they must be kept wet, and you have to prune them VERY CAREFULLY as they like to drop their lower branches and reach upwards (just like the real trees do). One bad prune and they'll drop the whole branch!

I have a mini jade that is a pretty successful bonsai, and I like him lots. Problem with bonsai is that it's best to use woody varieties, and I can't think of too many ethnos that fit that? If anyone can,  please let me know and I'll start up right away!

A bonsai weed plant would totally rock!

If you click on that link you get an "access forbidden" message.

I've heard that coca works well as a bonsai. A mature plant consists of woody stems and deciduous leaves. Coca also drops its leaves at least anually ( sort of like a tree, I don't really know how relevant this is though). I've got some novo seeds on the way, cant wait.

Anyone have any good links on how to go about bonsai-ing plants?

Eh, I am just now learning to grow things so I didn't really know much, obviously. But I was hoping that pedro, when placed in a small enough pot, would only grow to a certain size then stay that size. Which is, as everyone except for me seems to know, not the case.
I wanted to have three or four small (8"-12") cuttings in a bowl. Just hanging out looking cool.
Ignorance is my only excuse.

I'm pretty sure you'd have to trim the roots too.

Mulberry tree, hehe, if Cannabis is an annual, maybe Datura would work too?

i was thinking of doing some draturas, but honestly i dont want to be tempted with them around :frown:  same reason i dont grow poppies.

felix, let me know how your mescal beans turn out!  i have failed to no end with this species, even had a couple seedlings sent to me....which died :frown:  damn plant is eating me away.

and if you get your yopo/cebil to sprout let me know as well.  i have a realyl bad record with that species too.
