humidity in tank not leaving

My friend has two hygrometers in his tank. His humidity isn't going down and the condensation ins't leaving? Is that normal? He's using an ultrasnic humidifier. He has perlite on the bottom, but with no water, and a bubbler going 24/7. He hasn't even turned it on for a day, and the last three days its been on for probably 2.5-3 minutes.

yeah its totally normal to have high humidity when using perlite. thats what it does. thats about the only thing it does in our application. if you want less than 90-95 humidity you cant be using perlite; unless you have some decent air exchange with less humidity; ie NOT a bubbler or humidifier.
-------------------- Holy shit people; COMMON SENSE! we were all born with it where did it go? maybe theres a tek out there to explain how to use it! BUCKETS BRIGADE left hand man!!!

If you have a good sealed lid then yes, the humidity will stay up there for a while. Even hand misting is only needed once every day or two if you have a good seal.

ok maybe the bubbler won't decrease humidity, but why don't you consider it a decent for of air exchange?

I have a question along those lines.... Can I used a perlite base, and a humidifier with a hepa filter taped to the air intake for humidification and air exchange????

if you get a nice humidifier it should come with a filter, also if you leave the humidifier on too much you will get water building up everywhere. When my friends humidifier runs out of water the ultrasonic transducer automatically turns off and leaves the fan going to dry any water so I guess if you wanted you could let it run like that for air exchange. I'm not sure if all ultrasonics have that feature.

Mine is actually really nice, but came from a second hand store with a cracked tank, which i cured with epoxy. So, not sure if it has extra features, but I am sure that it does. As far as water drying it also features a massive 4 gallon capacity, which is why i picked it up in the first place. Anyway, thanks for the advice :)
