Anyone work on cars?

Im hoping this is the right place to post this. I was just wondering if anyone around here was into working and tuning cars. Its always been a past time of mine and was wondering if anyone else was into them.

The only thing that have to do with cars that I'm good at is car audio. Oh, and washing them.

Audio I suck at. A friend of mine does all my work. Im more into the engine work, although Im not the best at it. I just finished resurrecting my rx7 that was down for a year. Everything was removed from the engine bay besides the block and upgraded.

I'd love to learn about that stuff but it's just SOO much and I guess I just really dont care that much. I'd be interested in taking a class on it or something though. I mean, I can do basic stuff like change my oil and oil filter but thats all ive done.

Just buy a little car from a junkyard and take it all apart. Thats how I learned a good bit.

i work on bodies/paint. not so much on engine's, though i've seen the likes of many.

I just like building up imports. It gives me something to do with my little brother. Grab me a bottle of beer and roll up under a car and start working. Its really good bonding time. Heres a picture of the rx7 we just finished building.

i have a 95 nisssan 240sx that i turbo'd and tuned to 13psi. that thing was rediculously fast. BUT, after about 20,000 miles of taking that kind of abuse on stock internals, something had to give as i was expecting it too. and now, i get to do it all over again! =) with better parts this time though...forged pistons and what not.

work is making it hard to do it all though...i may pay a shop to build the engine so i can just drop it in. not sure yet...

make sure you drop the compression to about 7:1 as opposed to the 9:1 thats standard, thats why the engine couldnt handle the turbo

i had a tall headgasket that lowered my compression to around 8:1...

i wouldn't lower it below that anyways because then the low end drivabilty on that little 4 banger wouldn't be so fun for an everyday car.

i do some stuff on my car, oil, brakes, some others stuff too. i'm the only girl i know that does any car work  :smirk:
