LC's v. Syringes? Viable?
    #4837958 -

Tell me if this is crazy or viable:
Make Liquid cultures with my syringes, then 'noc up my jars with the LC culture rather than syringe. Heres my question though: Once the LC is mature, how long will it keep like that? Also, how many cakes can I make with one, say, half-pint jar of LC? Do I just draw the mature LC into a sterile syringe and inject that way?

To summarize: Is this a viable alternative to making spore prints/syringes? Will it add a lot of time to my process, or actually decrease it (I'm assuming the LC overtakes the environment a lot quicker than spores in a water solution?)

I've done the research on both methods, looking for some real life insight. Thanks all!

I think you need to do more. Lc's will work for a long time. Do a search for "liquid cultures". You will get plenty of "real life insight". As for how much you can inoculate with a half pint of LC, it really depends on how much you use.

LC's will take less time to colonize then a cake would, and then once inoculated into a jar, growth begins almost immediately because there is no wait period for the spores to germinate. When you suck an LC into the syringe, try to get the ropy myc and innoc with that. You don't need very much, I onnoculated B+ into a jar yesterday (1.5 cc) for a whole jar, and saw growth in all 4 innoc holes when I woke up this morning. Good luck.
