I think that the dry verm isnt the only part that didnt colonize. Shouldnt the shrooms be growing faster in the FC. I thought the went frompins to finish in just a few days...?

if they are not 100% you could always brake them up and try casing them.. just :2cents: im not a cake expert but they look pertty colonized to me.  i thought once the mycilum started to pin it stoped its colonizing and switched to fruiting? if this is true then it would do him no good to leave them in the jar cuz they wont colonize anymore..

is that true,if so, i need to fruit allmy cakes. I dontthink i CAN case. all i have is some verm. none of the other stuff, andi cant get it.

dont quote me on that, that was just what i think, im still a noob :smile:. and i never realy did cakes, only 2 tries, so im no expert on cakes.  you can case with straight verm, they say its not as good as say the 50/50 but it will work.. specialy if thats all you have to work with.  and i would wait till after your first flush is finished then dunk them then case.. but thats just me :smile:

This is my Hydrometer, It tells the RH and the temp in the FC and the temp in the Incubator (I have a reciever in the Incubator)


OK, so here's a question. Why are the two mushrooms that are mature, maturing so soon? The shrooms are so small, like 2" tall. Keep in mind, these are half-pint cakes.

your not gonna get huge fruits off of a cake, if you want big fruits you have to go bulk.  make some prints off of them and get yourself some WBS or popcorn and do it up and find yourself some horse poo (not from a store) then youll get big mushrooms, saposidly my first poo casing is pinning now so ill tell ya if there bigger in a couple days :smile:

my friend has found it easy getting 60 wet gram mushies off of brf half pints....dunking is key!!!

dont despair! you look ok considering your cakes initiated pinning in less than optimal conditions. i'd dunk and then roll in vermiculite after this flush is complete and your next flush should be better because it will have more fresh air, humidity, a better light cycle, and lots more room to fruit in.

also, i cant really tell in your pics but it does look like you might have some uncolonized substrate other than just the verm... if there is BRF in there that isnt colonized after this flush. cut it off before you dunk... uncolonized substrate + fruiting chamber = contam.

by the way - i'm no cake expert. you might want to get a confirmation on that.

couple tips for you, tap off the side of the fruiting container so they are dark. That way light only comes from the top. This should help them grow taller and straighter. Second maybe give them more air exchange. Double what you are giving them now. Meaning fan the hell out of them. Give this a try for the next flush

I have an air pump in there with 2 wands running 24/7, cant get much more air than that.

So I went away for the weekend, and here's what I can back to.











Also, I made a casing, just to give it a try. Here's how it looks. Ive never done a casing, so I dont know what to do now.
Im guessing ill let it colonize another day, the put some verm ove all the growth, and fruit??? is that right?

Update.

I got 8 grams dry so far. And prolly 3-4 more drying. Im just harvesting as I go.




Got a new dehydrater. Makes things easy.




Im giving 2g's to my sis tonight, so Ill give a trip report tomorrow.
