Re: Hypnotherapy [Re: Locus]

What is most relevant is that the range of the psyche called the subconscious - between waking consciousness and the unconscious - is fairly isolated, accessed and utilized for the removal of traumatic events which live there in a state of timelessness, or, conversely, the implantation of suggestions that are helpful to the subject can be made. Negative memories are not eliminated, but the negative emotions can be separated from the memories and eliminated. Positive suggestions can be added. With the permission of a physician, chronic pain can be reduced or eliminated with no harm to the client (whereas removal of undiagnosed pain could result in someone not seeking medical help - e.g., headache goes away but brain tumor kills subject).

i received hypnotherapy sessions 2 times... the first time was for leaving work at work, stop smoking and sticking to a diet. i was able to do all 3 things afterwords... but i really wanted to... my mind was already setup to do these things... the second time i was looking to perform better in an upcoming chess tournament. i had changed my system playing black and for one reason or another i was scared shitless. in the second round of that tourney i beat an opponent who was rated 480 points higher then i was... now maybe the hypnosis was psychological, but needless to say i was very happy with that game... i won 3 out of four games that weekend.

i wanted to point out one thing... after both sessions i received a music tape with subliminal messages laced into into it... these could actually be heard if you listened for them. there were also "tones" or pitches which helped set the brain up for its new "program". i received these tapes about one week afterwords. on the other side of the tape was a relaxation tape... it took awhile to be able to get into the groove but when i did it was refreshing... i do these exercises to this day...

another thing to note... you don't loose total touch with reality during these sessions... in other words, don't be worried that the hypnotherapist will have you do things you do not want to do... i did drool all over myself both times though. embarrassing as well as disgusting... hehe.

imagine a child growing up in an abusive situation... each day the child is told they are worthless, "get out of my face"... "you're stupid"... and so on... you get the picture... the child is told these things by someone they look to for love... what happens? the child begins believing all these things about him or herself... this is a form of simple yet very destructive "programming"... can hypnosis help this child? i really can't answer that to be honest...

I've had chronic pain for years. No matter how many of the hundreds of doctors I've seen over the years I have not been able to find the cause of this pain. It renders me basically disabled unless I'm on a large amount of opiates. Do you think hypnosis could help me?

Yes, I do, but without a verbal and written consent on the part of a medical practitioner stating that the source of the pain is psychogenic (generated by the psyche) or neurogenic (nerve generated), you would be hard-pressed to find a hypnotherapist to employ pain management for just the kind of reason that I suggested above. Pain can be eliminated or reduced, but if the pain is an indicator of organic disease and one masks the pain, a condition can potentially worsen. I would not want to be responsible for the irresponsible masking of symptoms.

Well of course hypnosis is psychological!!! What else would it be?
And yes, self-esteem issues stemming from childhood programming can be helped by the subject's release of that programming - by intentional excision and destruction of such malevolent thought-forms in the subconscious.

Thanks for the positive report! I used to hypnotise a 9th grade wrestling team en masse before an event. There were some unprecedented quick pins!

If one hypnotises a 3rd degree burn victim within 2 hours of the event, swelling from internal fluids can be minimized and skin grafting can proceed without delay. James Esdaile (The Esdaile State - hypnotic coma) conducted hundreds of limb amputations in the 19th century, in India (a population open to trance states) including leg amputations, without chemical anaesthesia and without pain.

Hmmm, well I really don't know if it's psychogenic or not. I think not, but I somehow hope it is because I'm desperate. my whole life was really fucked up by this, it just came out of nowhere a little over 5 years ago. its a long story. so id definitely like to try hypnotherapy if it'd help. Ive been to both psychologists and medical doctors/specialists and so on, but Ive got varied answers as to whether its psychosomatic or not. all the medical exams and mris and every other kind of similar thing has come up negative as if there was nothing there. but it's very physical to me. different physical positions affect it as well and so on...
thoughts?

I would do a hypnoanalysis to 'ask your subconscious' the meaning of the pain. It knows what it is even if 'you' don't. That investigation might, by acknowledging that part of your psyche that is creating symptomatic attention, by itself be reducing of pain without giving any suggestion for anaesthesia. Hypnotic language sound animistic at times - personifying parts of the mid-body, but 1) it often works and 2) one better understands the practicality of the ancients that many simply write off a being 'pre-scientific.

oh ok, thanks a lot. but how exactly do i do that? or do i need to read something or ? And about it being subconscious or not... by me saying it feels physical to me and it's as physical to me as anything else, can it still be subconscious?... i just want to make sure and know if you've encountered or know anything about such things yourself. well, i hope to read more from you soon, thanks again

Re: Hypnotherapy [Re: Locus]

I'll give you an explanation by way of a true story. During my first course in hypnotism, we all became subjects, but one older guy - a homeopathic physician - had been plagued by chronic pain in his arm. No specialist could discover the cause. The teacher - a Master Hypnotist in every sense of the word - began a hynoanalysis of the man. As it turned out, his wife whom he loved, was convinced by his mother-in-law to leave him. [While in trance, he told all of this to the class] He wanted to punch his former mother-in-law in the face and had been struggling with this repressed desire to do so. The subconscious desire, and his subconsciously embedded ethics were existing in a perpetual struggle that had resulted in chronic muscular tension in that arm. What was particularly mind-blowing for the class is that his wife had left him 30 years ago!!! He had not been consciously aware of this whole repressed drama, and it was the hypnoanalysis which brought it to consciousness. There was, at the time, a noticeable reduction of pain, and the teacher promised that student some additional private therapy. The subconscious is timeless as is the unconscious. In the homeopath's subconscious, the event was 'present' - happening in an endless loop that needed to be broken.

Hope this helps.

However, when you transcend all this pre-conditioning by returning to the original wisdom of the animal body, then you discover this immense dimension of opportunity. For some people, it is a frightening risk. To me, that's the psychedelic experience."

thats an interesting story. i dont know if something like that could be existing for me, but id like to find out. something that complicates my will to believe that could be possible for my situation is that i feel this pain when im sitting is the worst so i rarely sit, laying down is usually less, and standing is none unless the muscles had been aching a lot. oh and bending as well, that always hurts. the pain is really a lower back bone type pain. it's complicated though, and theres more to it. maybe ive just been conditioned to focus and expect pain when in these positions... i dont know, but otherwise it would support a more physical origin wouldn't it? that there are these physical differences in the pain by actual physical doing is what says to me how it can be anything other than physical.. ya know?

anyway, that hypnoanalysis.. im not sure if i just missed it or did you not tell me how i should do that?

You'll require a hypnotherapist who can do a hypnoanalysis.
