I was wondering, at what point does one stop misting? Should the mycelium get wet? hmmm?

wet=contamination=bad. once you see the mycellium appear in the casing it should be humid enough for pins to form; but you may still want to mist lightly. once they start forming dont mist on the pins or mycellium tho, they dont like it.

Dry is bad, but wet is bad too.. You want moist If it is dry give it a medium light misting 3-4 times a day or more depending on how dry it is. You want the casing layer to be moist, but definetely not wet

To add to the previous post you want to give it a few hours inbetween mistings to allow the casing to absorb the water. If the casing is moist enough, you should only need to give a light misting about twice a day. You would stop misting right before it begins to pin, once you see pinheads...stop. The idea is to slowly let the casing absorb as much water as possible over a week long period so once it starts pinning it will have plenty of water in which to feed the fruits.

If you mist the casing also after the pins have established themselves, you will get a better yield.

AFOAF was planning on using the SOS TEK... but removing the casings from the containers so that mushies can grow from the sides as well as the top... Question: If there are no pins apparent, is it good to mist the whole thing? Another Question: will it dry out faster as a result of not being in the container? Any advice would rock. :)
