I didn't say that. I said race is not important to me. Reading comprehension is key.

The spirit of the conversation opposed to the letter, is key. You were saying how you didn't have this "racial tie" that made you more prone to "mesh"ing with members of your own race, yet you honestly look and sound like the poster boy of "White".

Yes, what's your point? I've also met Shroomerites who were hispanic or asian.

But only a minority of them were? Are the majority of your friends white or non-white?
Quote:
Yes. What does it matter? I don't read them for their race. I read them for their ideas. I am also interested in the ideas of non-white scholars and theorists like W.E.B. Dubois, or Lao Tzu.

Again, the majority of what you've posted and agreed with politically are white thinkers, no? Georgism?

I actually do have a favorite pair of baggy pants, but no, I don't try to look thugged out, nor have I said anything which would lead anyone with reading comprehension skills to arrive at such a conclusion. I merely said that race is not important to me, not that I try to act like some other race. I simply try to act like myself, without trying to fall into some idiotic racial stereotype.

So, if someone were to say how you dressed and behaved, would they say "Well, like the average black guy", "the average asian", or "the average white college kid". Long hair, a visor, a button up short sleeved flannel shirt, black jeans. Guess which category I'd pick?

I flew out there by myself. There were people of other races there, I assure you. BTW, I'm not the drugged-up one who was rambling loudly in that video. I'm the long-haired one on the right who was talking to him. Just thought I'd clear that up.

Yea,I got that. You seemed to be under the influence. Not that what you were saying was wrong or anything, it just reminds me of the totally fucked up conversations that I have when I'm UTI.
Quote:
Why the obsession with race?

Why the lack of concern and ability to discern racial issues?

This is getting off topic quickly.

Rather than attempting an online psychoanalysis of those involved in the discussion, Warrior, it would be better if you were to advance the discussion itself.

Think you're up for that?

No, I'm afraid the letter of the conversation is important, since you clearly have no idea of the spirit of it.

White, just like the majority of Americans. This would only be significant if I lived in an area where the majority were not white. This is not the case.

Much of my arguments in the other thread are based on the social theories of W.E.B. Dubois, a black philosopher and social critic of the 19th century(and quite a brilliant writer). But this is irrelevant. I read their ideas, not their race.

Doesn't matter. I dress how I please. And when I look at how other white people on my campus dress, I definitely wouldn't say I look like the "average" student there.

As far as I've been able to discern, the only racial issues that exist are interwoven with issues of culture. Thus, I see culture as being more fundamental to understanding these issues than race, which is in itself a social construct.

I suggest warrior reads some Ian F. Lopez, namely "The Social Construction of Race."  Report back, in another thread.
