Australia/Cairns...good hunting now?

hi, im in cairns for a week and was wondering if there's any good hunting in the forests around smithfield now...and if so, are the active mushrooms around here much different from melbourne? i've searched for cairns and queensland here but didnt find anything helpfull.....

would be good to find some before dreamscape on saturday :laugh:

From what i read in the Aus/NZ hunting thread, things aren't really getting started up there for another month or so.

i haven't been that far north myself, but my guess is that you'll be able to find cubies all through the warmer months. not in the forest though, check the cow fields :wink:

doesn't seem to be much fungi in the forests in queensland anymore, have to wait til next winter. i haven't ever found actives in the queensland forests though

thanks people, yeah had a look around in the forest today and didnt find anything...oh well, less time hunting is more time spent enjoying queensland :laugh:

like ajna said do not check forests (unless they have cow dung in em), subs are extremely rare in QLD, I have only heard of them being found as far as Brisbane. check the cow fields a couple days after rain for copes and cubes shouldnt be to difficult with the tropical climate. I wish I was into shrooms when I went to Cairns, its a really nice place though, has good diving.
