I give a few locations. The Tropicalis you speak of are really Copelandia tropicalis.
Not Panaeolus tropicalis.

They can grow from 1 shroom up to 200 in a single cow paddie.

They are common in the tropics and neotrpics of both hemisppheres. They stain intensely blu after handling.

Not to be confused with the Australian 'hysteria' fungus of the late 1940's and early 1950's (Panaeolus antillarum).
