HI ther ePyrotechnist and welcome to the Shroomery.

So You live in Queensland, Well have you read my Book "Magic Mushrooms of Australia and New Zealand?"

I give a few locations. The Tropicalis you speak of are really Copelandia tropicalis.
Not Panaeolus tropicalis.

They can grow from 1 shroom up to 200 in a single cow paddie.

They are common in the tropics and neotrpics of both hemisppheres. They stain intensely blu after handling.

Not to be confused with the Australian 'hysteria' fungus of the late 1940's and early 1950's (Panaeolus antillarum).

I have many pictures posted at spiritplants.yack.org

Go there to the mushroom hunting section and go back for the whole year.

If you want to read my australian field guide then go to Erowid.org. ITs listed in the index on the home page.

Mj

Good luck

You'll be knee deep in "Goldtops" (Psilocybe cubensis) and to a lesser extent "Blue Meanies" (Coplandia tropicalis) before long they are easy enough to identify once you know what to look for. There are lot's of photo's on the web to give the basic idea.
Don't try anything till you've had positive ID's from an experienced person. There must be another "shroomerite" or two thousand in the area!!

MJ- I've not yet read your book, but I'll definately do so very soon (right now, actually). There's a sheep farm somewhere near here I can get to by bicycle, which sounds like a good place to look. Thanks!

Aims- I'll see you on ICQ. Thanks!

MJ- Just read the book.. it's great! I'd pay to have it in actual book form. Of course, I'm not complaining that it is currently free..
