When can I get well?
    #4668681 - 09/16/05 04:26 AM (18 years, 6 months ago)

I am already taking the antidepressant cymbalta for the past one-week or so. Can anyone suggest the exact duration from when the improvement signs would be noticed?

anti-depressants seem like a load of crap to me, but I'd say they take affect as soon as the drug kicks in (an hour?) , but other than that being depressed is all in yer head. Change your outlook, don't worry about the things you have no control over and people are stupid so disregard any negative opinions unless you can use them to better yourself.

Anti-depressants take from one to two weeks to reach maximum effect.
They are not immediate fixes by any means, especially if the doctor started you off low and is going to bring you up to a higher dose.
I'm not familiar with this drug, but unless it's a mood stabilizer or anti-psychotic, it will take a while to reach the maximum benefit for you.

they can sometimes even take longer than 2 weeks. It might take a month to really notice any effects. Hang in there, it took me a month of using them and then about a week of not using them to really see the difference.

Very true! I should have said "at least" one to two weeks.

It just won't be immediate.

Although it can never be anticipated what exact duration is ideal to relieve an individual to revert him/her back to the normal, clinical studies conducted in this regard illustrate that people taking Cymbalta began to feel improvement in their symptoms as early as one. But again such results may drastically vary depending upon the nature of the person in which such treatment is facilitated.

Does anyone have advice for him in the mean time? Do you have suggestions about non-medical ways to deal with depression until the drugs kick in, or for those of us who do not want to take anti-depressants (yet)?
