MSG seems to everywhere. I remember when as long as you didn't eat Chinese you had nothing to worry about. But that aint so. All the processed foods have it. Fast food to fine dining, it is probably a safe bet that it is loaded with it.

An excerpt from the article:

Quote:

A study of the elderly showed that people eat more of the foods it is added to.The Glutamate Association lobby group says eating more benefits the elderly, but what does it do to the rest of us? 'Betcha can't eat just one', takes on a whole new meaning where MSG is concerned! And we wonder why the nation is overweight?

The MSG manufacturers themselves admit that it addicts people to their products. It makes people choose their product over others, and makes people eat more of it than they would if MSG wasn'
Not only is MSG scientifically proven to cause obesity, it is an addictive substance!

The food producers and restaurants have been addicting us to their products for years, and now we are paying the price for it. Type in the words "MSG Obese" and read a few of the 115 medical studies that appear.

I know, I know. It is from Rense. But all the same I think it is a pretty good read.

You're a lot worse off if you eat a lot of processed foods. Go natural!

That is the way to go but I'm finding it easier said then done. The fast foods and prepackaged foods make it so easy especially if your strapped for time. I have cut down on them alot though.

MSG and salt, too much of it in too many foods.

Glutamates also occur naturally in foods, hence the whole umami thing.

That is the first that I have heard that it is an addictive substance
that will actually cause you to overeat and food manufactures are doing it on purpose.
Nope, I allways thought it only gave you headaches and might be a cause for mood swings in children

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monosodium_glutamate

Quote:

Monosodium glutamate is found naturally in seaweed and fermented soy products, and especially yeast extracts. Smaller quantities are also present in tomatoes, mushrooms, and Parmesan cheese.

Take that you dirty hippies.

Quote:

A considerable amount of research and testing into MSG allergies has been performed over the past few decades, and the vast majority of controlled studies show no link at all between glutamate in food and any allergic reaction.

YanCanCook...

Him and the Galloping Gourmet used to add MSG to foods all the time.. That other Asian cook on Food TV did an entire show about it..

The stuff isnt that bad for you. Or at least not as bad as other ultra modified foods.

high fructose corn syrup is another addictive, completely unnatural and unhealthy chemical that's in almost every food and drink consumed by americans ...

this country has the worst health of anybody in the world, despite having so much more 'food' ..
