what really pissed me off in the middle of all of this is hundreds maybe thousands of people have tried to volunteer their boats, gas and lives to rescue people trapped in the flood waters and were held back by the Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries because a handful of thugs were shooting at people in the city.

most of them were to poor to get out. busses didn't pass thier street, circumstances, car broke down, out of gas. there are 1.2 million people from N.O. not all of them are going to have opportunity. they only forcasted the storm going to N.O. 2 days before landfall, we usuall get at least 4-5 days warning. i know people that stayed. their story was always the same, they just didn't have a way out.

itw asnt that way for MANY of them. the poor/elderly/disabled were left behind, as they had no means of transporting themselves out of lousiana.

Yes they did. they could have walked to safety with as much warning as they had.. They were told to GET OUT NOW. They didn't listen. They have nobody to blame except themselves. 90% of the people they showed on the news were perfectly capable of walking. Their relatives who were next to them could have carried, dragged or pushed them along. :smirk:

we only had 2 day notice. how far can you walk in 2 days. and where would you go? remember, huricanes move faster than walking so if you choose the wrong direction you're dead.

If you walk 2 miles an hour you could have easily been out of the immediate area.. Where would you go? Away from the flooding and destruction.. Come on man.. You would pick being lazy over life?  :smirk:

No shit....get out of the freakin LOWLANDS? INLAND? I mean, nearly anywhere would have done, and it's a rare person that won't provide shelter in the face of a storm like that, even to strangers.

40 miles due northwest and much of this current evacuation could have been solved.

Here's a picture of the school buses in New Orleans that could have been used to help evacuate people instead of being left to flood.

If they would have at least driven the buses out of town, they could have been used to help evacuate people.

Local government owns these buses.  There are no excuses.  They dropped the ball!
