BITE the bullet, and buy a used ALL-AMERICAN pressure cooker. They're excellent, and they KEEP their resell value, should you ever want to sell it.

I haven't had much luck with the salvation armies, but you may in your area. I just tried like two of them. They are like a ThriftTown, but ThriftTown has more stuff usually. I've seen many at ThriftTown, but hardly ever bigger ones.

lol that's a really big difference in currency rate
but ya, it is pretty high but it sets it to 15psi automatically, it's the only setting it's got.
but ya i'll try to look around some more, thx for telling me that.  all i need now is some horse shit and i've got everything to grow HUGE flushes!!
too bad they're psilocybin, i could sooooo live off mushrooms.  :frown:
o well, it's a great hobby. :laugh:
and the living off mushrooms thing is possible im sure, it's got all the amino acids and everything.

omg, salvation army. i tried going into one today, and i was supposed tyo ring a doorbell so i saw someone about to get in and then i talked to them. total asshole to me!! total asshole!!!!
screw the army, lol, i'll settle for wal-mart, i got the cash for everything i need anyways.

If you go to WalMart, get nothing smaller than the 8q mirro.

It holds 4 quarts at a time. The next step down holds 1 quart jar.

Well, if you plan on living on them and have the money, I wouldn't get anything that doesn't do at least 14 quarts at a time. :thumbup:

Watch eBay for an AA930 or AA941(All American brand) or equivalent.
I believe the 930 does 14. And the 941 does 19. I'll find out next week when mine gets here :grin: New they're expensive. The 941 with shipping was $390. Watch eBay. I saw one go the last day or so for $202. They still bring a nice penny at auction :frown: You can do better, just depends on how long you want to wait.

ok so im going to use this to pressure cook some rye grains. i have a really clean strong mycelium culture on agar. problem is it's not very big, i'd say about 1cm diameter. how big does the culture sample have to be for me to use it as an innoculant?

i've also got some LC mycelium but the water that touched my finger smelt really bad so that's otu of the question.

could i use dextrose for my LC?

I use one tablespoon each of Light Malt Extract and Dextrose per quart distilled water. Mix some up and PC. Transfer some of the colonized agar right to the LC medium. I'd do it in a glovebox.

there's lots of sounds coming from my pressure cooker.... it's kind of making me worry about it.
is htis normal? the manual says it shoudl steam a lot but it's making lots of cracking sounds inside, but none ofmy jars cracked.

the thing on top should be rocking & hissing and rattling pretty heavy. You will see steam coming out heavy during all of this too.

As far as the culture thing, you only need a few cells of mycelium tissue, you dont even need to be able to see the tissue, so if you got a chunk you can see, thats plenty to knock up a liquid culture.
