Ergot poisoning from rye substrate

According to my friend it is possible to get ergot poisoning from growing shrooms on rye or brown rice as the conditions are perfect for ergot-fungus growth. Is this true?

i think you would see it before it became an issue. so when you see it as a contamination it would be discarded.

i do know(on a side note) that on the salem witch trails alot of that shit started when some of the towns people ate some bad rye bread and had ergot poison. (seen that in a documentory)

Not after you PC rye 90 minutes @ 15 psi.
