Dung loving edibles?
    #4563261 - 08/21/05 05:42 PM (11 years, 3 months ago)

I just tried searching so sorry if I failed miserably. Are there any common edibles that grow on horse dung? I want a valid excuse for the owners of a ranch.

Shaggy manes can be grown on manure indoors, and they're really tasty too.

Are'nt they pretty tricky for the home cultivator?

Im lookin for a dung lovin edible myself. Being how my cubes did so well outdoors, I kinda wanna add mushroom to my diet. Hearing that it has a complicated assortment of nutrients and stuff. Is shaggy manes the one that taste like lobster when u grill them and dip them in butter?

Your welcome. Ive been reading up on them. It says they grow on horse dung, or on rotted wheat straw. So im trying to get the best of both world by making a compost pile of 1 ton of horse poo, and a bale of soaked wheat straw.

Wow though man, a culture for 45 dollars, they really stick it to you on edibles.

$45 is essentially the cheapest place you can find cultures for, mushroompeople seem like a good company that arent trying to super tax you, if you think thats expensive checkout some other culture libraries, they can run over $100 easy!

A. Blazei would be your best choice for a dung loving outdoor mushroom, in my opinion...
