DENVER (AP) -- Firework shells carrying the sealed ashes of "gonzo" journalist Hunter S. Thompson arrived in an armored truck at his mountain home as final preparations were being made for his star-studded farewell.
The shells were scheduled to be launched Saturday night from a 150-foot-tall monument erected behind Thompson's house in Woody Creek, just outside Aspen. HERE

I'm too lazy to read that story, but is this "farewell" open
to the public? I assumed it was but I'm not sure. I wish I could
go.

The event will be private, open to about 250 invited guests including Thompson's longtime illustrator, Ralph Steadman, and actors Sean Penn and Johnny Depp. The memorial will include some reminiscence, readings from Thompson's work and performances by both Lyle Lovett and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

Well he did bro. Its a sad thing but he probably had his own personal reasons that you don't know of or might not understand. RIP HST

None of that stuff is new dude. I read and heard it all. He killed himself. The government didn't have any interest in silencing him. Most of the mainstream view him as a whacko and wouldn't give any credit to what he thought about 9-11 and that theory of his and Joneses is whacko anyways. There are plenty of more credible people out there spewing that theory why would the gov't pick out HST? Alex Jones is fucking schitzo man. I used to be really into him three years ago but then I stoped smoking so much pot and generally stoped all my paraniod tendencies and gained some sense and realized this.

That is so awesome!! I would have never thought about going out like that. I love Hunter S so much!! I thought That Johnny Depp's funding of the whole thing was pretty sweet, too!

Probation But seriously I guess it wasn't the mj although it did kind of make me a little bit more paranoid of things in generall. But I guess I just kind of grew out of the Alex Jones shit. I noticed the things he spoke of weren't happening and he started getting even more kooky. This HST thing is just absurd. All of HST's fans want to believe it though because they don't wan't to think their hero would do something like that. It reminds me of when Kurt Cobain killed himself all the fans swore it was Courtney blah blah blah. Some still believe it. They came up with all kinds of shit about how it wouldn't have been posible for him to kill himself and shit but common now. BS is BS.

Now, that is a very true statement! I bartend and serve tables, so I get an extra large dose of fuckwads and their like. Makes me see where the postal people are coming from, you know?
