great flush from 3yr old prints (update: 2nd and 3rd flush) pics
    #4542142 - 08/16/05 01:49 PM (11 years, 3 months ago)

These were grown from a 3 yr old print that was not stored well. Not refridgerated, they were left in a box in an outdoor shed for the whole three years. A liquid culture was started using honey/water and a small scraping of these spores. It was ready to go in 4 days. The print was originally traded three years ago with no mention of what strain it could be. Anyone's guess....?

Not sure about the strain, but that's great that the spores are still good eventhough they were sort of neglected. Nice grow as well... I like the look of those fruits. Interesting colouring and textured look to the caps.

Thanx guys, its was my second grow although Ive been studying mycology and hunting in the wild now for 6 or so years. What surprised me was just how blue they went when handled, and how strong they were after only being fruited off WBS alone..... Cant wait to to spawn these to Horse poo.

Well, these puppies keep on coming.... After the first flush was harvested I dunked for 12 hours and put em back without re-casing and these were the results - better than the first flush by far.

Note that the tray on the left seems to be a tiny bit stronger, and a day in front of the one on the right.

After the second flush I dunked for 12 hours with a weak solution of concentrated seaweed extract, although the tray on the left I made the solution a fair bit stronger than the tray on the right, and then I re-cased this time with 100% straight coco-coir. These are the results...

Note this time the tray on the RIGHT is flushing much better and a day in front of the one on the left.... this leads me to beleive that a dunk in a weaker rather than stronger solution of organic based fertiliser can be helpful because because the third flush is so far the best one - the fruits are bigger and there are more of them... Please note that these were not grown in optimum temperatures - the day time temps are in the 20's (celcius) but it is winter here and at night the temp gets down to around about 15 degrees celcius.

Finally here are four pics side-by-side showing the first, second and third seperate flushes. Unfortunately I didnt get a whole terrarium shot of the first flush, so the first two pics is of the left THEN right trays in order, the right tray pic taken a day later (if you follow me) -

First flush:

Second flush:

Third flush:

Any more guesses on the strain yet?

Yes - to much of a good thing, can sometimes be bad.

I lost track of how many times this little substrate test tray flushed out.
But it was 6 or 7 times .
