Hello fellow growers, I was just wondering what kind of yield all you pan cyan growers harvest?

I haven't grown cyans, but I'm going to be growing some trops in a couple weeks... the yield would depend on how many cakes your casing, what type of substrate you use and what type of casing layer you use among other variables. I couldn't give you any idea of the yields anyway though, lol

Hey Ralphster44, You seem to be a pan cyan EXPERT from the looks of your pics!!!!! How much lime do you add to that mix, and how many times a day do you mist and fan yours?

Thanks for the feedback Ralphster. You can post pics if its not to much trouble (it's up to you). Oh yeah, how much do you yield on average?

I would like to see pics. I've got cyans on agar right now. One transfer to poopoo agar and then I'll be ready set them in some birdseed, or rye, then zoodoo or just poopoo. I'de like to see pics of what I could expect.

Do you HAVE to use dung for Pan Cyans? Or can you case colonized grain with worm castings?

Out of curiousity - ive read lots about pan cyans being relatively smalle mushrooms, but how large can they grow? In terms of cap size particularly?

The caps are up to 5 cm in diametre, but normally smaller, as far as I remember. The get to be about 10 cm high. It depends on the amount of fresh air though. If they get more fresh air, they get bigger... Eleltkrolurch

There are plenty of pics around. They actually stay shorter and grow much faster outdoors. The stem is not as long, and the caps have larger diameters. Indoors, with good air exchange they grow tall with relatively smaller caps. Indoors, substrate has alot to do with size, more so then air exchange. Straw based composts seem to produce larger caps, but run a higher risk of conataminants, with fewer flushes. Rye grain cased with peat: perlite, no lime, produces massive quantity of really tiny shrooms, mostly unprintable. Manure based substrates produce medium size mushrooms, printable!!!! Using sterilized manure:ryegrass seed:perlite substrate, I have gotten five flushes off of each casing, without contamination. Overall yield is less then cubies, but potency is higher.

here's some pics of Panaeolus cyanescens and Paneolus tropicalis (a very similar species). Two images of Pan cyans grown on straw/dung/vermiculite

Hey, do you all do anything to the casing after the first flush (such as getting a fork and scraping the top layer, loosening it up) or is the mycellium too delicate for this?

Nice pics... making my stomach growl ; ) I also heard that using wheat straw w/zoodoo increases the size of trops and cyans. I'm going to mix in some whole wheat flour with my zoodoo when I get around to growing my trops, will probably put a light casing layer of wwf & zoodoo then a light layer of pure zoodoo to try and help with contams or something. Dunno, it'll be fun to mess with though : )
