Hi Bio,thanks, but I'll still try some time. If I shouldn't have success, then I'll be glad to accept your offer. BTW I made some photos of the mycelium, but I have to let them be developed, so you can see what I mean... What kind of agar do you use Bio? I use standard MEA. Elektrolurch

i just saw the cope pictures at bio's webpageyou would be amazed at how many variations in appearance this mushroom has when you find them in the wild. the ones in the pictures are all excellent looking copes, must be an isolated strain of copelandias though because they all look identical to eachother. keep on sharoomin!

Hi Bio,thanks, I'll give it a last horse shit try. I sterilized yesterday two jars and I hope it works better. If it shouldn't work... I've used also MYPA, but to get the peptone is kind of hard for me, last time I had to "steal" it from the lab of my girlfriend in the university. Where do you get it? Merck again? Elektrolurch p.d. T?glich fit, mit zwei gramm shit...

Hi Prellgott,no it doesn't really stink. It smells almost like a mixture of hay and soil, with a small touch of horse. I sterilized the shit in jars... Elektrolurch

Hi,here are some pics of the mycellium. The big petridishes are a multispore germination, while the two small ones are after selecting it many times. The dishes are old, so they look a little bit blued and some got a slimy contam at the edges of the dish. I also made photos of the back side of the big dishes, so you can see how the mycellium grows into the agar... Elektrolurch

I don't claim to be an expert... but if I saw that stuff growing in a jar, or on some cheese, my first and only thought would be: mold. =\

Not everything can be mold. It's a little bit difficult to see in the photos, that much of the mycellium got with time blue... Elektrolurch

Pan cyans are very proned to contamination. I have had dishes get the green mold while sitting in front of a HEPA. All of my other cultures were fine except the pan cyans... I can figure it out. Try using anti-biotic agar ad throw a bit of dung juice into the mix.

Panaeolus mycelium does look very different then cubensis mycelium. I cant tell you how many jars I threw out for many months before realized that pan mycelium just grows very strange looking. Very wispy, sometimes what looks like pinning in jars. On agar it looks very unhealthy. For best results just inoc some rice/verm or birdseed/verm jars, let them run their course. Then break those up and use as spawn to inoc some dung or compost. Compost seems to work best for warding on contamination, which pan mycelium contaminates easily. Strangly enough, the old dung doesn't stink. And easy way I used to sterilize it is put in an old pillow case, tie in a knot, and pasturize between 160-180F for 1 hour. Then let it hang outside for day to drain. When ready to mix with substrate, take handfulls and squeeze any excess water out to where its barely dripping. Mix with our broken spawn, put casing layer over it immediatly. It will usually fruit within 3 weeks. Use a light casing layer, about 1/4" and something like the 50/50+ mix with some lime in it works well. The high from these is incredable. Well worth the efforts and frustrations and loosing some patches to contams. BTW, nice patches there mycomountain. -peace- www.thehawkseye.com

Again... I'm no expert (by far), but those pics look very much like the color pic or Aspergillus in TMC... Promisingly, though, your pics look a little more blue and a little less green. I guess the only way to find out is to drop the agar in some jars, wait, and smell. Good luck!
