encryption problems

ok, so it started saying my passphrase was incorrect about 5 times... i wrote mine down so i know it was correct and it was very easy for me to remember anyways.

so finally i give in and gen a new keypair, and its giving me this error:


Warning: filesize(): Stat failed for /var/www/gpg/1811_shroomery.org/.gnupg/secring.gpg (errno=2 - No such file or directory) in /var/www/shroomery/pubssl/index.php on line 48

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /var/www/shroomery/pubssl/index.php on line 110

im upset.. please help me fix this?

Mine is doing the EXACT same thing. I can't seem to get it to work no matter how many different phrases I try.

Just download and use regular PGP manually. Then swap public keys with your recipients and you're good to go in the shroomery PM'age and email'age too. Not to mention you can encrypt files too. It's all I've ever used. Reliance on a 3rd party -- the shroomery system -- to keep your shit secure is not a good bet IMO. Rely on yourself!

im not relying on anything... another member requested i encrypt something, yet i dont care... im only trying to respect them!!  i dont want to have all my crap encrypted.  i dont do ANYTHING worthy of such paranoia.

just trying respecting a fellow shroomerites wishes, nothing more.

Same here. I was doing it by request.
I wonder if anyone else is having the same problem.

Thanks guys, I appreciate you bringing this problem to my attention. I know the secure PMs have been a little flaky but I think they're a worthwhile feature and I'm grateful for everyone's help tracking down bugs. This error should be fixed now but please let me know if you notice any more problems. Also note that after generating a new keypair, you will only be able to decrypt secure PMs sent to you from that point on. If you try to decrypt any old ones you will get the "passphrase is incorrect" error.

Anyway I hope things are working for you now!
