First time with the uglies

Well my roomate and i finally got a mushroom kit from the local hemp shop. basically it involved sterilizing hay(or straw its one or the other) in a big pot ,cooling, adding the mycelium and after a fewdays casing it in a foot by foot 1/2 plastic container with a clear lid dome on top with two small vent holes on the top of it.
. Man we were happy when we started to see those little guys come up,thinkin there b+ strain, but as they grew we noticed the green shit growing on the other areas of the soil away from the shrooms
.we tried adding salt but that didnt seem to stop it, so what we did was dig right now to the bottom of the tray and take any of the green stuff out and then salt it and add fresh moist soil to those area. was there any harm in doing this? think it will work?
is that green shit caused by the air contaminents i.e should we keep that lid on as much as possible? or should they be aired out?

Gack!.... the hard way to do things. Use the PFtek... it's easier and almost contaminant proof. You aren't going to get huge yeilds but at least it is the cleanest way. I wouldn't worry about your moldy friends. just so long as it's not growing -on- the shrooms.
