I just got this movie today via NetFlix. i have never seen it but i think i might watch it tonight. anyone care to comment on the movie?

Great movie. The best mob movie ever made. It is entirely based on a true book (all of the stuff in the movie actually happened).

My favorite scene (watch for it) is when Tommy beats the shit out of Billy Bats in the restaurant near closing time and there is a song playing in the background that is great ("Way down across the ocean, where I want to be, she made me" or something like that).

Goodfellas is one of my favourite movies. You'll recognize a lot of one liners from it. It's long, and based on a true story. Very good movie.

I love long movies. i dunno why i just do. when i saw it was almost 3 hours long i was like "hell ya" and now you guys are saying its a great movie so now i am like "fuck ya!" but i will let you all know how i like it.

Goodfellas is a very good flick for sure. :smile: If you enjoy it I compiled a list of my favorite mob movies a while back. Ill post it here for anybody who likes Goodfellas. No specific order at all its just in order of flashing into my mind.

[Mobsters] Very good movie about Meyer Lansky, Charley (Lucky) Luciano, and Benny (Bugsy) Siegel. Based on true events.

[Gotti] Movie on John Gotti, known as The Teflon Don. Took over The Gambino Crime Famiglia. Based on true events.

[A Bronx Tale] Very good movie. A personal favorite of mine.

[Lansky] Another very good movie about Meyer Lansky, Charley (Lucky) Luciano, and Benny (Bugsy) Siegel. Based on true events.

[Bonanno A Godfather's Story] Documentary on Joseph Bonanno and The Bonanno Crime Family. Based on true events. The Godfather was based on Joey Bonanno and his ethics.

[Bugsy] Awesome movie on Benny (Bugsy) Siegel (Founded/Thought up Las Vegas) Built the first Casino. (The Flamingo)

[Knockaround Guys] Newer movie but indeed a very good.

[The Shipment] Another good mob movie

[HOFFA] Movie about Jimmy Hoffa and the Teamsters. Mob influences.. VERY good movie. Based on true events. This is another personal favorite.

[Do The Right Thing] Not a mob movie per say.. Italian Pizzaria in a black neighborhood in Brooklyn NY.

[Wisegirls] Newer movie about girls working in an Italian Restaurant. Pretty damn decent movie.. Show's the ups and downs of the life.. heh..

[The Untouchables] Movie about Al Capone. VERY GOOD. Based on true events. Another personal favorite.

[Donnie Brasco] Decent Movie

[The Godfather Series] Enough Said

[Casino] Very good tale. Must see. It's based on the inside running of the Flamingo in the beginning days of Las Vegas but they changed the name of the casino and it's just a tale not the true events...

[Goodfella's] Another good movie based on true events. The names of all of the gangsters have been changed of course. Another personal favorite.

[Mario Puzo's The Last Don] Decent mob movie

[Boss of Bosses] Another good mob movie.

[Tough Guys] Ok.. Nothing spectacular.

[The Crew] Ok.. Nothing spectacular.

[Corky Romano] More of a comedy

[My Cousin Vinny] Not a mafia movie but a good movie for sure. Classic. Starring Joe Pesci

[The Freshman] Another Marlon Brando movie.

[Raging Bull] Another non-mob movie but a good flick for SURE.

[Road To Perdition] I hear its a good movie. About Irish Gangsters.

[Witness To The Mob] I don't know how I forgot this classic. Another movie based on supposed real events.

[Trial By Jury] Another HIT I forgot to add in. This one is a classic also. About a single mother living in NY who gets placed on The Jury for a mob BOSS who is on Trial. He ends up terrorizing her. Another personal fav.

[The Lost Capone] Another great movie I left out. I am sure you can guess what its about.

[The St. Valentine's Day Massacre] Another good Al Capone movie. Bootleg era Chicago.

[Suicide Kings] ANOTHER GREAT FLICK I left out. Newer movie. A group of teenagers kidnap a mob Boss...

[Mean Streets] I didn't Particularly like this movie however it is a classic.

[Once Upon a Time in America] VERY VERY GOOD Irish mob movie. Starring Robert Di Nero. This is definately a must see. Goes from their childhood and forward, in NYC.

[Federal Protection] Another good movie about a guy who is trying to collect a bounty on a former mobsters head.

[Witness Protection] Movie on Bobby "Bats" Batton south Boston Mobster. Another must see.

[Borough of Kings] Another mob hit. Must see.

[The Sopranos] HBO Series The Sopranos. Fairly good Series.

m00nshine is currently vacationing in Maui. Rumor has it he got rolled by drunken natives and is currently prostituting himself in order to pay for airfare back to the mainland but he's having trouble juggling a hairon addiction. He won't be back for a long while.

Excellent movie. One of Scorcese's best. My favorite Scorcese movie though, is a tie between Taxi Driver and Raging Bull. I personally like The Godfather better in terms of a mob movie, but they are quite different. Netflix is really pretty tight, you can get stuff from the popular to way obscure/avante-garde.

That was one of the best lines in the movie i thought.  this was a great movie.  i watched it twice!
