Cannibalism

Would you, under any circumstances, resort to cannibalism to feed yourself?

For the sake of this poll, we will assume that you don't have to actually kill someone before you eat them. Say you get in a plane crash in the arctic (like the movie Alive) and some of the people in the plane die in the crash...would you eat them to stay alive?

Or say a famine broke out and you (and everyone else around you) started to starve to death...would you eat the ones who die first, to keep yourself alive?
Would you resort to cannibalism to feed yourself?

Of course. Meat is meat, I'm not gonna die. It'd help if I hadn't known them... If it was my mother or my girlfriend then maybe I wouldn't be quite as quick to devour them... but it'd probably be what they wanted.

Yes, everyone is a cannibal.....when you are in your mother you eat some flesh and guts and fluids...we are all cannibals before we even know what a cannibal is

Yeah I think in the end hunger would overcome any aversion I have towards eating another human.

I certainly wouldn't be able to kill someone in order to eat them...but if they're already dead they won't miss their flesh :smirk:

I couldn't kill and eat them I don't think but if they were already dead I would resort to cannabilism. Especially once the real hunger started setting in.

Prion diseases, like Kuru, are only really common among cannibal tribes....so unless you happen to be stuck among a tribe of cannibals when you go hungry...you don't have a very big chance of catching a prion disease.

Besides, most cases of prion disease (like BSE) in humans are attributable to animal meats...not human meat.

Because the human form of BSE, vCJD, is so rare your chances of accidentally eating someone who has it are very low.

Besides...if you're already going to die from starvation, why would you be so worried about the slim risk of catching a prion?

I dont think I would eat the meat sitting around for a while.  WHenever hungry I think I would kill a survivor of the crash and eat them.
