Between doctors
    #4432041 - 07/21/05 05:04 AM (12 years, 3 days ago)

In a span of almost identical period I was down first by heart disease and which followed with gout attacks. As both the conditions are different I had to attend different doctors, the appointment with the heart specialist is still due and meanwhile the doctor whom I visited for gout problems recommended the drug Allopurinol to me. Now I want to know is it safe to take the drug or shall I wait till I finish my visit with the heart specialist?

As far as my knowledge goes Allopurinol has some restrictions to be used in certain medical conditions and heart problems is one of them. This is irrespective of the fact whatever the heart specialist says. Allopurinol?s working efficienvy might be reduced in such cases. I think you should seek the advice of the doctor who attended you for the gout problem and so he can either withdraw the Allopurinol drug or make the required changes in dosages
