liquid medium w/malt extract--how much?

I'm going to try the liquid medium mycelium growth tek described in this site. It calls for 4% malt extract by weight to distilled water. Since I don't have a scale, I'm wondering if anyone has tried this using malt powder and how many tsps/tbls they used per 1/2 qt. jar. Thanks.

Malt powder weighs approx. 10 gr / tbsp. A 4% solution would be 1 tbls. / 250 ml (1 cup) of water. Shdwstr

Yep, 4% at that ratio is ok - Good luck Phogger! - I reckon that malt powder is better than honey; I might be wrong but it seems to be more nutrient-rich...don't worry if it turns a much darker colour than honey, it's normal...:)

Malt Extract Agar (3%)(MEA)(General Microbiology)(FDA M93) ----------------------------------------------------------------- 30 g Malt extract (liquid) or 20 g Dry Malt Extract 20 g Agar 1 L Distilled water
Boil to dissolve ingredients. Avoid overheating, which causes softening of agar and darkening of medium color. Autoclave 15 min at 121?C. Dispense 20-25 ml into sterile 15 x 100 mm petri dishes. Final pH, 5.5 ? 0.2.
This medium is recommended as a general maintenance medium. [1]
For LC just let the Agar out...

2-3g dry yeast is enough. Filter the LC trough 2 coffee filter before you sterilize it. It wont harm if you dont filter it and it will also work with 7g yeast but it is not clear then.
