Liquid Medium trouble (extracting Psylocibin )

I have been growing mushrooms for about 6 months now (or trying to rather ive only had 8 mushrooms grow). After all the headaches of mushroom cultivation i came across a VERY interestin article in Lycaeum. It involves growing out Mycellum in potatoe based liquid medium, and extracting the psylocibin with a solvent (methanol i believe).
The tek is fairly simple except one part that confuses me. In the liquid meduim ingredients a substance called dextrose is called for. I am not a chemist and dont claim to be but i am a aspiring cultivator and would like to know WHAT IS THIS STUFF!? is it corn syrup, sugar, some type of saccarhide. thats my guess but not sure please help. and one more thing if anyone knows where to get 100% pure methanol, maybe over mail, please let me know. I will keep the board updated with my progress

you can get it at some sites on the net, myco-supply.com and others, you can also obtain it at a your local brew shop, they sell it as light malt extract, used to make beer and such.
But from what I have heard, liquid culture dont coontain much active ingrients, you are much bettter off use this liquid to innnoculate jars, then extract from a colonized jar.

metanol in the US is sold as a gas addative it comes in a yellow bottle PM me ill give you the name brand

Dextrose isn't malt extract but you can find both at the brew store.

Dextrose is a white invert sugar powder at the brew store sometimes called grape sugar or starch sugar. You may find it as a syrup as well under the name glucose or mixing syrup.

Malt sugar is made by sprouting grains and then drying them to be ground into a brown powder or extracted into a syrup. The germination of the grain turns much of the starches into sugar. Since malt is made from grain, it is a more complex nutrient base than pure dextrose and so can be used alone without added nutrients (other than water).
