Capping Jars with round Coffee Filters???
    #442047 - 10/30/01 04:55 PM (15 years, 9 months ago)

Hey has anybody tried using round coffee filters on their innoculation jars and screwing on the
outer portion of the lids. I wonder if this would keep out contams?

Just curious.

Purrr!

it will work... i've done it...

only with finch seed though... brf tends to dry out real quick...
and use like 3 per jar because the mesh is a bit wide, and i always put the jars back in the box and close the lid and put somewhere that there is not much are movement...

when using coffee filters air movement = contamination... guaranteed!

yeah, cutting corners=contamination.... buy some MM filter discs or just use plain old metal lids....

Coffee filters? Why, no, no-one has ever tried using those in mycology prior to your idea! Your incredible amount of research into the hobby has uncovered an amazing innovation in the field! Kudos!

Sure, Not sure how helpful they are but allot of people apply them when using polyfill filters for their jars, suppose to help aid in keeping dust away, they help I guess.
