Salvia soil or nutrient tips?
    #4399239 - 07/13/05 11:56 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I got a mail order salvia cutting. It was doing pretty good, but then the leaves started browning on the tips, and getting light colored. Any suggestions? Too much direct sun? I tried spraying the leaves with a light boric acid solution after hearing here that it could be a boron deficiency....That problem seems to have cleared up, but things still aren't right.

Thanks for the help.

Sounds to me like the plant is just getting acclimated to the(most likely) lower humidity of your home......

You can try keeping a tray of gravel and water under the pot(but not submersing the bottom of the pot in the water) for added humidity... Just add water to the gravel daily or bi-daily......

Or you can mist your plants a couple times a day with a spay bottle....

Or you can just let them get used to the environment your growing them it.....short of a desert, they wont be too adversely effected by the lower humidity...

make sure it gets air after certain period it can't live without it, but if it is young, cover in a larger humidty dome. They don't like a little dome, goto the hydro store and get the dome and tray for cutlings.
