My first shroom grow
    #4349737 - 06/29/05 07:08 AM (18 years, 9 months ago)

Hello all, This is my first post. I have been growing B+ in 2 dble cased trays. Temps around 74 and I couldnt find my hygrometer so ill have to live without that. I have lots of little premature shrooms that aren't growing. I was wondering why this is and if there is any way to help them grow still or should I just pick em all? Thanks ahead of time.

how are you going about giving fresh air exchanges? are these brf cakes cased? how much light are they receiving?
it depends on where they are at if you pick or not. has the veil broke? if so you can pick them. if it has been a week and still no growth i would pick them.
peace

Well Ive got about 10 or 12 primo shrooms, but theres about a million little ones round the edges that arent progresssing. They received plenty of light. But I didnt have a hygrometer and being my first real shroom grow. I may have over hydrated with perlite, or thought I did then dehydrated the atmos. and underhydrated the shrooms. Also the mold on top is looking a little webby.

ok so have the caps on those little ones turned a dark brown/black color? if they have they have aborted. pick them and set for the second flush.
you still didn't answer the question about the air exchanges. are you manually fanning or doing anything to give them fresh air at this point in time. this is a must.

sorry, i blame the drugs.
just fanning, three times a day...I also leave it open a crack
most of em are dark but there are some brown ones that arent growing either. Should I be fanning more than that?

It never hurts to fan as often as you can.
Sounds like the little ones you are talking about are aborts. May have been caused by over misting when you had pins.

What is this mold you are talking about ?

Beauty thanks, ill learn to use this site more efficiently dont worry.
--Cobweb mold or Dactylium Mildew (Hypomyces sp.)

A cottony mycelium grows over casing. When it contacts a mushroom, the mycelium soon envelopes the mushroom with a soft mildewy mycelium and causes a soft rot. It is also a parasite of wild mushrooms.
Cobweb mold is darker than mycelium... almost grey as compared to white. The difference in color is sometimes hard to tell for somebody that hasn't seen them side by side before. Cobweb has several other indicators... the one that sticks out is the speed of growth. A small patch the size of a dime will spread to cover an entire jar/casing in just a day or two. Cobweb is also very very fine strands, while mycelium tends to be thicker ropes.
Cobweb mold is favored by high humidity. Control strategies include lowering humidity and /or increasing air circulation.--

Its only taken a bit of one of my trays im not too worried...My next grow will improve ten fold from learning experience...

THANKS all for your indiscriminating aid...
