when shrooms grow in the wild

i was wondering about sumtin today when shrooms grow in the ild off of cow dung, dose the cow eat sumtin with spores on it and the spores turn into mycelium and all that in the cows stomach or is it the ground that has the intent to grow but need the cow dung to do it

The cow consumes spores that were dropped onto grass. The multi-stomaches allow the spores to survive (as opposed to an acidic digestive tract) then they crap it out into the ground. Months later the dung it colonized, and a heavy rain creates the nessasary conditions for the mushrooms to grow out of the dung, and to spread it's spores all over the grass for more cows to eat and crap and grows more mushrooms.

No, the spores don't lye dormant, they colonize said dung. Then after all the nutes they need have been gathered and they've grow strong enough... When the next storm comes along bringing moisture, it creates the conditions for a mushroom to grow out of the colonized dung. Keep in mind that mushrooms don't appear untill like months after the crap has been crapped ...

what if too much time passes befor the right weather comes the mycelium dies out?
