white mold

I have very nice pinning on my PF tek cakes from my first try at shroom growing. Some are almost an inch tall and looking fat and happy. This morning, I noticed that at the bottom of one of my nicest pins, there was a white, fuzzy looking mold at the base of the pin. This mold was round. It does not look like a mycellium ball, it is way more fuzzy, like a spider cocoon. Help! Have I done something wrong?

If it's white, it's most likely mycelia.

Dear Psiligirl,

I have growed a few times, and molds are really a pain.
I guess it is the micelyum, but check the web and try to find a picture of CobWeb mold. It is white, and I had it on a few cakes once, while they where in the glass container still, I found out when I was about to birth them, they where on top of the dry layer of vermiculite.
After birth, the only problems I ever had (always had) was a green mold (very nasty) that spread from cake to cake (they where old).
In a friends house where he never gets it cleaned, the green mold appeared very soon after birth, destroing every cake before they fruited.
So if it is white, you probably should not worry, but make sure to keep your room as clean as possible.

I had the same thing, and it turned out to just be some myc. fuzz... I figure, if you pinch it and turns blue, it must be ok, right? I hope the myc. reacts the same way mushies do when bruised, or I just birthed some funky cakes.
