Any tips to growing specificially to harvest mycelium?

I am planning on growing azure mycelium specificially to harvest mycelium like baby hitler did. I am looking for any tips. When myc is colonised, if it is shaken it then can look uncolonised and will all grow back again. So after 4 weeks it should be colonised, if I shake it it will grow more over the next say 2 weeks, but the initial active compounds should still be in there, right? Or would I be better off leaving it 6 weeks, does more growth occur after it is fully colonised, like deepening into the grains?
I have also thought of putting the fully colonised wheat grains into a blender and then incubating again. They should be a bit drier and should not turn to mush. This way the myc will have a huge surface area to grow on.

because mushrooms suck when you could be munching down tablespoons of birdseed. The mere thought of eating colonized birdseed just makes me want to jump up and dance!

My guess would be cuz it's so damn hard to fruit Azures if you don't have somewhere outdoors you can put 'em..

3 days ago i tripped off of a pint of mycelium. it was a bitch to get the myc off the birdseed. but it worked. i had a few extra jars laying around so i figured i'd try. hardest trip of my life. i'll be posting a thread about it later along with a trip report.

Myc. has way less % of chemical content when compared to fruit bodies.
Not worth it IMO..Especially sice all my LC's always contam...well most...something about sugary water

i will tell you what, you can trip off of mycelium. No for the best lc for doing this is potatoe broth, Just boil down some spuds or use instant flakes and use that. This will work for making spawn also but it tends to be chunky so it clogs up syringes. you will get some awesome groth with this mix

What did you do? You didn't try to physically scrape mycelium from each birdseed did you? I was thinking of busting up a jar of seed, soaking it in a bottle of cranberry juice, shaking the shit out of it , strain and drink. I don't know if I'll have any fruits in time for the 4th of July, but I can make a special drink..

broke apart each half pint into its own quart jar, break it up really good. i used oj instead of cranberry juice. filled it just enough to cover all the grain. closed the lid tight and shook it to hell. shook some more, shook again. strained it out into a glass, poured it back into the jar and shook some more. whole process took me about 20 minutes. by the time i was done the oj just looked a little more cloudy, was still yellow and still tasted like oj but with a very slight mushroom hint. i didnt think it would work but i was suprised as hell to have my first level 5 trip off it.

hahahahah! Surprise, huh?
I read a book that was all about cultivating jars of mycelium for the express purpose of psilocybin and psilocin extraction. The mycelium is never fruited. There is this whole process and then you end up with capsules of super strong shit. I bet those would be a hit at festivals.

i think i might actually try this...i mean, it takes what,...a week to get a half pint of a good strain to colonize.. if done in optimal conditions i think one could get large doses in a decent amount of time. if i succeed i'll be sure to write up a tek.

figured i'd throw in pics of what i did
i couldnt believe how packed those jars were, they filled ever mm of the jar except where the pollyfill was.
cakes out of the jar, the fact that they didnt crumble apart shows how strong the growth was, all rhizo.
the cakes broken up
the end result

To eat. There is a thread showing that one sample of dry azure myc has only slightly less active compounds than a sample of dry cubensis fruits in the same study. Azure spawn will colonize at 20C which is my room temp, so I could have stacks of large jars or tubs colonising without any incubator setup. No misting, fanning etc. Baby Hilter has done this in the past and found it quite potent. It also is very fast for anybody in a hurry, 4 weeks and you have a trip. I use wheat which is fine to eat, I would mix it with curry sauce, (I am not eating birdseed/horse shit/wood!). Really this is to try and get some friends into the growing hobby, and just a bit of an experiment. I am surprised not many have tried it. It is sort of like faster sclerotia growing, but without the need for an incubator for people in colder climates.
It is hard to determine if LC is contamed and many do get contamed. The yeild from LC is not great (I am now convinced Gottliebs guide is out by a factor of 10, after reading a post by agar who has tried harvesting myc from a large LC). I have also seen a few threads with studies where far more active compounds were found on myc on agar than in submerged cultures.
As I said, if the grain is put in a blender after colonisation it will have a huge surface area. Millet is also a tiny grain which has a large surface area to grow on.
I do grow cubes, and will try an azures bed too while I am at it.
Has anybody any ideas about maximising the myc yield though?

I cloned and turned one jar into 12 jars, and in just 5 days three of them are visibly at 100%, and the rest of them are like 75% and up. You can multiply this shit exponentally, in an amazingly short ammount of time.
I'm going to try to locate that book and post some stuff out of it in this thread so check back.

Well, I'm not going to eat wood or shit either, but I'll eat birdseed. I'll just glue some plumage to my ass and peck, peck, peck away...
