the two main thing's i've found that stop pinning is humidity and casing layer moisture. if the humidity drops below ambient in my terrarium, everything STOPS, immediately. what're you using to humidify? is there condensation on the walls of the terrarium?my friend birthed some B+ cakes about 5 weekds ago. they colonized the jars lightning quick, but when birthed, they wouldn't pin. i told him to case, he did, still wouldn't pin. i took a look, and the casing layer was bone dry. i told him to get it moist and keep it moist. i just heard they're coming up beautifully, all over the place. so, check those two things. and let us know what you find Link ------------------ How I wish that somewhere there existed an island for those who are wise and of good will. -Albert Einstein

Those balls of mycelia are probably primordia forming. If the casing is moist and your humidity is up then patience is probably all that is called for------------------ Be sure to check out www.3mshrooms.homestead.com for your spore needs

Are the balls fuzzy or sorta yellowy? if yellowy, then they are what i call "pre-pins" cuz the dont have a "mini-cap" yet but are still primordia. If its just fuzzy balls, then those will probly turn into primordia in a few days.

Thanks guys. I will try that. My humidity was good, I thought, there was condensation on the walls of the terrarium. I will spray the top layer of the casing ASAP. Thanks again.------------------ Away!

Fuck. Bad news guys, and I'm in need of serious help. I sprayed the tops of the casing, to make it more moist. The mycelium has stopped growing, and looks dead. What happened? What should I do?

Hang in there, Sunshine !, before the pins form the mycelium appears to stop growing , keep the mycelium damp and have some patience,I just waited about 8 days for pins, they just take a little longer sometimes------------------ Close your Eyes and look deep within yourself, Listen to the voice of your heart. Thanks. I birthed the casing today, and the mycelium inside looks fine. The reason I birthed it, was the cups were letting to much light through the sides. The cakes look fine, I just have to wait. Damn. ------------------ Away!
