Okay.....i will be attempting a casing for the 4th time.....all other 3 times, i lost to the nasty green mold......the question(s)

I have heard a few different teks and want to know which way would be THE BEST way for a beginner so that i can finally get this to work??

Option A= use a bottom layer of perilte and a top layer of verm.??

Option B=use a both layers as verm??

Also, which layers get moistened?? both??

All help appreciated!

Go out and but some "growbrick" coco coir. It comes presterlized, meaning you just drop the brick in a bowl of water (spring water or use a little H202), squeeze till barely dripping and voila!

I would like to use products i have already attained.....

and that includes the verm., the perilite, and a bag of seed starter shit....i think they call it jiffy mix or something like that........???????

Use the jiffy mix(50/50 peat moss,vermiculite) for both top and bottom casing layers. I pretty sure your going to want to sterilize it first though. Either by boing it in a pillow case, or pressure cooking with oven bags, some people microwave it and swear success but I've never tried it personally. I'd say save the straight vermiculite, and use the perlite on the bottom of the terrarium for humidity, some people even suggest using a very thin layer of perlite at the very bottom of the casing to wick up any stagnant pools of water that may form at the bottom, who knows, probably couldn't hurt? Check out all the documents in the grow/find/casing section if you havn't all ready.
