casing question

i would like to know why some casing ingredients don't require sterilization and some do.
i've done some casing but i found that they got contaminated faster than if i did them little cakes at a time.

Well I think that all casings need to be sterlized. Coir is not needed to be sterlized due to the fact it is already presterlized and is packaged quite well. Im not goin to say not to sterilze it, but you dont need to. If your having problems with contamination, sterlize no matter what. take the extra 1 hour to make sure everything works out ok.
